Fujimura “Fujimura” Atsushi proved to the Street Fighter V community that Ibuki is a force to be reckoned with by going undefeated at the Taipei Major last weekend.
The Grand Finals match was short but competitive, as Keita “Fuudo” Ai’s Birdie almost reset the bracket.
Fujimura’s corner pressure with Ibuki’s kunai was exceptional, shutting down any offense Fuudo tried to mount.
Fuudo had no answer for Fujimura’s mixups, even throwing out a desperation wakeup Critical Art at one point.
Fujimura also showed off his excellent reaction speed, as he heavily punished an overreaching Fuudo in the neutral.
With the first set tied 2-2, Fuudo looked like he might be able to pull off the reset, but once again got trapped in the corner.
The ending was a little anti-climactic with Fujimura showing off his superior spacing skills, following up a forward dash with an instant overhead for the win.
With his first-place finish, Fujimura earned US$7,000 and 700 CPT points which vaults him into third place on the global rankings with 1,095 points.
