The 14th World Esports Championship of the International Esports Federation (IESF 2022) had just concluded its Tekken 7 group stage.

Well-known international Tekken players like Arslan “Arslan Ash” Siddique and Shoji “Double” Takakubo dominated their respective groups.

More than 40 Tekken players from countries around the world were in attendance, and were divided into 8 groups which follows a round robin format. The top two players of each group have advanced to the Main Event Elimination Stage.

In Group E, unified EVO champion Arslan Ash made a perfect run to qualify for the next stage of the competition. Next to him in the leaderboard is Venezuelan representative Rafael “Fuko La Muerte” Yanez, whom he faced in the first set of the group stage.

Arslan had set aside Zafina, and instead brought out Kunimitsu to go against Fuko’s Marduk.

The Venezuelan fighter looked like he had game two in the bag — but whiffed hard — which gave Arslan a combo window to win and force a final round. Regaining his footing, he finished the final round in 17 seconds, defeating Venezuela 2-0.

The Pakistani representative then extended his victory streak against Lucius Jonathon “Lucius” Antoine of The Bahamas, Hitesh “RCool” Khorwa of India, and Ahmed Abu “Soulfrost” Mariam of Palestine.

A similar story happened in Group G where Double annihilated everyone in his group to go 4-0 and become the number one seed.

Accompanying him out of the group and into the next stage is Korean representative Lee “Jokre” Chan Mo who had a 3-1 run, losing only to the Japanese Law player.
