With three spike sites, Lotus can be tricky to defend.
The winding corridors in the middle of the map are key ground to control — lose sight of them, and you open yourself up to a dangerous flank.
Sentinels are crucial to locking down the map, punishing opponents as they funnel through narrow choke points and providing information, even if you don’t have bodies on site.
Here are the best sentinels to play on Lotus.
Ranking the best sentinels to use on Lotus
1. Killjoy
Killjoy is without doubt the best sentinel on Lotus, similar to her indispensable role on Ascent.
The map features multiple tight choke points, particularly in the area around B and C sites, that Killjoy can control with Nanoswarm mollies. Opponents will take heavy damage as they funnel onto sites, and will have to approach with the utmost caution.
Her Turret can also help her watch adjacent lanes and assert her presence more strongly.
Finally, her Lockdown ultimate is perfect for attack or retake scenarios, forcing opponents off sites entirely and creating space for her team.
2. Sage
Sage is a low-effort and easy-to-play agent to shore up your defense. She is played similarly to the way she is used on Haven, another three-site map.
Her Barrier Orb wall can be used to wall off B site early in the round, slowing down any push and denying entry to B, including its pathways. Unless the wall is broken, you don’t need to worry about B site for a while.
The path to C is also easily blocked off, and the only other way into C site is through C Waterfall, which requires opponents to first take control of B site.
Sage’s Slow Orb is particularly effective on the map’s narrow choke points as well. It can stop a push dead in its tracks, save for agents with movement abilities.
3. Cypher
On attack, Cypher’s Trapwires are probably the best ability for watching for flanks from either side of the map. Unlike Killjoy and Chamber, his traps are not range-limited and will not deactivate, so he will always maintain control over key areas of the map until he is killed.
This can be crucial in default plays, so your team can focus on prodding enemy defenses without worrying about being flanked.
When defending, there are some useful Trapwire spots as well that should allow Cypher to anchor the site from behind.
But even then, he is still outshined by Killjoy, who possesses far greater stall ability.
4. Chamber
Compared to the other sentinels in the game, Chamber’s kit appears severely lacking.
He has just one Trademark trap that deactivates when he moves out of range, while his other abilities rely on a player’s ability to time their aggression correctly and land their shots.
And even if he does manage to find an opening pick, the limited range of Rendezvous means that he is not entirely out of danger and may be traded quite easily.
On top of that, his single trap is his only stall ability, unless he manages to find some kills with Tour De Force.
