Turkish Valorant pro Gizem “Luie” Harmankaya has died following the 7.8 magnitude earthquake that struck Turkey and Syria on Monday, February 6th according to her former team Unknownpros.
Luie had previously competed in Valorant Game Changers alongside the organization.
Since the news of her passing, the official Valorant account for Turkey has also made a post stating, “We are deeply saddened by the loss of professional VALORANT player Gizem “Luie” Harmankaya. Our condolences to all her loved ones.”

Reports claim the Turkish Valorant pro had been trapped
Luie had previously represented Galakticos Sirens and Vivace Vista in Game Changers, but had played the majority of her matches for Unknownpros according to VLR.gg. According to the match history, her final 17 matches were under the Unknownpros banner with her first being in April of 2022, and the last being in August of the same year.
The death toll of this devastating event has surpassed 11,000 as of the time of publication according to multiple reports including this one from CNN.
It was previously reported by DotEsports that Luie had not been responding to those calling out to people who may be trapped on-site.
In addition, it was reported that Luie’s boyfriend had arrived at the location where she lived and attempted to find her, but was unable to get a response.
