Sentinels have proven yet again why they’re the best team in North America after becoming the first squad to qualify for the upcoming VCT Masters 2 tournament.

The North American powerhouse dominated the upper bracket of the NA Stage 2 Challengers Finals, defeating the toughest teams in the tournament.

First, Sentinels dispatched of up-and-coming squad, Version1, in the upper bracket quarterfinals 2-1. Then, they sent rival squad 100 Thieves to the lower bracket with another 2-1 victory.

During the upper bracket final, Sentinels defeated a surging Cloud9 squad with stellar performances from Hunter “SicK” Mims and, their superstar stand-in, Tyson “TenZ” Ngo. Both players started out red hot, scoring Aces in the first eight rounds of the series.

TenZ was the MVP of Game 1 on Haven after finishing with a 19/16/7 KDA record, and had a top ACS score of 244.

Cloud9 answered back in the following game, demolishing Sentinels on Split 13-1.

The team’s young duelist specialist, Nathan “leaf” Orf, and Korean import player Son “xeta” Seon-ho outplayed Sentinels almost every round. Xeta finished with a 15/5/13 KDA, while leaf had the highest ACS at 358.

The final game of the series was played on Icebox, where both teams looked evenly matched with a halftime score of 6-6.

After the break, Sentinels won seven straight rounds as the attackers, punching their tickets to Reykjavík, Iceland.

Sentinels were the first team to qualify for the VCT Masters 2 competition, which will be the first major international LAN competition in the history of Valorant. Aside from Sentinels, only Team Liquid and Fnatic from the Europe, Middle East, and Africa (EMEA) region have qualified for the tournament thus far.

VCT Masters 2 Reykjavík, Iceland, will take place on May 24 to 30, and will include the 10 best teams from North America, EMEA, Korea, Brazil, Latin America, Japan, and Southeast Asia.
