VCT Game Changers, Riot Games’ initiative to create opportunities for women and marginalized genders, has arrived in Southeast Asia.
For the VCT Game Changers SEA, Riot Games has partnered with FSL, SEA’s premier women gaming circuit.
What is VCT Game Changers SEA?
VCT Game Changers SEA will conduct monthly series and tournaments. The event is the counterpart of the North American event organized by Nerd Street Gamers last March, where Cloud9’s female Valorant team took the championship.
Like its North American sister, VCT Game Changers SEA aims to cultivate opportunities and exposure in high-level competitive play for women and marginalized genders within the Valorant SEA community.
VCT Game Changers SEA format and prize pool
There are four stages to the tournament:
- FSL Open: A monthly open tournament, where the top eight teams advance to the playoffs. The FSL Open Playoffs will follow a best-of-3 double-elimination format, with a best-of-5 for the Grand Final. Through the Open, teams earn points and placings on the Leaderboard. The top three teams on the Leaderboard will qualify for FSL Elite.
- FSL Open Overtime: Teams that place 4th to 19th on the Leaderboard will compete for three spots for FSL Elite.
- FSL Wildcard: This is open to teams who have not qualified for FSL Elite, or new teams who want to compete in VCT Game Changers SEA. The top two teams from FSL Wildcard will qualify for FSL Elite.
- FSL Elite: The final tournament where eight of the top teams in SEA will compete for the first VCT Game Changers SEA Championship and a prize pool of US$25,000.
Registration for this month’s FSL Open IV is currently ongoing, for both teams and individuals. The tournament has a monthly prize pool of US$5,000.
