T1 Entertainment & Sports, the recently-created joint esports venture under SK Telecom and Comcast Spectacor, announced that it has signed “Sonii” and Kim “JuanK” Bong-sang as its first two players competing in battle royale titles such as Fortnite: Battle Royale, Apex Legends, and PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds (PUBG).

Sonii is a well-known Fortnite streamer on Twitch, where he has amassed over 87,000 followers.

Meanwhile, JuanK streams the major battle royale titles on Twitch and has even competed in a number of professional PUBG tournaments since early 2018, having played under teams such as OGN Entus Force and Bon’s Spirit Gaming Luna.

According to T1’s announcement, both Sonii and JuanK have been given the title of “Battle Royale Pro.” The two will be both streaming and competing in the major titles of the battle royale genre.

Comcast Spectacor, which owns the Overwatch League team Philadelphia Fusion, and SK Telecom T1 announced their joint esports venture back in February. The partnership originally aimed at creating teams and establishing a presence in the major titles of the popular battle royale genre, as well as in the smash-hit fighting game Super Smash Bros. Ultimate.

As part of the partnership, T1 adopted the branding of SK Telecom’s renown League of Legends (LoL) team, which was also renamed to match the new global esports entity.

SK Telecom made its legacy in LoL as the only team to secure three World Championship trophies, thanks in large part to franchise superstar Lee “Faker” Sang-hyeok. The organization has also established multiple teams competing in various esports titles.
